Juco WR Woodyard becomes 2nd Husker commit of Scott Frost era

Jaron Woodyard traveled to Lincoln, Neb., with his Yuma (Ariz.) Arizona Western C.C. teammate, Greg Bell, and his official visit went very well for him. So well, in fact, that he decided to commit to Nebraska.

"Did I commit? Yes, I did," Woodyard told HuskerOnline.com. "I committed to Coach (Scott) Frost, Coach Frost, Coach Frost. He was excited because he wanted me even when he was at UCF, so when I got the offer here it was like fate. It was good."

Asked what most stood out to him about his visit to check out Nebraska's program, Woodyard replied:

"It was great! The whole experience with the facilities and the coaching staff, of course I met them already on my visit to UCF. So, I pretty much had a good feel for the coaches and everything before, but I like how they run everything here as well as I liked how they ran things at UCF. It's a great place to be and I can see myself here."

Woodyard's grandmother accompanied him to Nebraska.

"She loved it," Woodyard said. "She liked how they treat the players by the staff, as well as them having the best facilities, and stuff like that. She really enjoyed it a lot."

His player host was Pernell Jefferson and a pair got along well.

"Like I said, the highlights for me were the facilities, how they take care of their players, and the sports lab here is amazing," Woodyard recounted.

Woodyard knows exactly what he will be bringing to Nebraska's team starting next month.

"Speed and being an impact player anywhere on the field, no matter where he puts me -- receiver, punt return, kick return, special teams," Woodyard stated. "I can play anywhere on the field and be an asset to the team."

Prior to his official to Lincoln, Woodyard took official visits to UCF and Syracuse. An official visit to Tennessee next weekend was supposed to be next on tap for Woodyard, but he doesn't know if he's going to take it anymore.

"I haven't really finalized the date for that or anything yet, so we will see."

Woodyard has three years of eligibility to complete two seasons of college football on the Division I level. He will be signing his letter of intent with the Huskers on December 20.

Woodyard is excited to get his Cornhusker career started in January.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah I am very excited!"
