Nebraska has officially signed long-time running back commit Dedrick Mills out of Garden City (Kan.) Community College.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound JUCO transfer had been committed to the Huskers since early September, but did not initially sign with NU on the early signing day on December 19. Questions about whether Mills would be a part of Nebraska's signing class quickly arose. In the weeks that followed the early signing day, Mills told HuskerOnline.com that he was hopeful to sign with NU before January 15 and that he planned to be in Lincoln this summer. Any questions about that can now be laid to rest since he has inked his letter of intent with the Big Red.

The Georgia native originally signed with Georgia Tech out of high school in 2016 and went on to rush for over 700 yards and scored 12 touchdowns for the Yellowjackets en route to earning Freshman All-American honors.

Prior to his sophomore season Mills transferred to Garden City C.C. where he only played in about six quarters before breaking his clavicle. This past season Mills helped to lead the Broncbusters to an undefeated regular season and a shot in the NJCAA National Championship game against East Mississippi C.C.

Mills finished this 2018 season earning honorable All-American honors with 236 carries for 1,358 rushing yards which was fourth in the nation and led the country with 19 rushing touchdowns.

Nebraska has graduated running backs Devine Ozigbo and Mikale Wilbon since the end of last season and saw running back Tre Bryant's career come to an early end due to a medical retirement before the season began. With that, Mills should have an opportunity to provide NU an immediate impact along with rising sophomore running back Maurice Washington for next season.

The Huskers now have signed 25 prospects since the early signing date including Oklahoma State defensive lineman graduate transfer Darrion Daniels.
