Eric Fuller commit: What does it mean for Nebraska?

Nebraska picked up commit No. 3 for its 2018 class on Wednesday from Los Angeles (Calif.) Hawkins. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Fuller becomes the first out of state commit in the class.

What does Fuller's commitment mean to the Huskers going forward? Here are a few early takes on the Fuller commitment.

1. The first thing that immediately comes to mind with the commitment from Eric Fuller is that Nebraska's time and energy in recruiting Hawkins High School is paying off. This is a school that is absolutely loaded with talent in each and every class and NU just landed one of the better players from their roster.

2. Fuller is the definition of an athlete. He is a two-way standout who makes plays wherever he's at on the field. As I mentioned, Hawkins is loaded with talent, so when a player is still able to make highlight reel plays as a receiver and as a cornerback on a team that has supreme talent then, you know he's a great prospect.

3. Fuller has speed to burn. He's currently tabbed as an athlete and that is exactly what Nebraska has recruited him as. So while his position may be up in the air, the fact that he automatically helps improve NU's team speed is not a question.

4. You can never have too many players that could potentially make an impact in the special teams game. Fuller could possibly make an instant impact in the punt or kickoff return game.

5. Fuller isn't just a fast, straight line guy. He has terrific agility and quickness in the open field. He also has terrific ball skills on offense and is physical enough to play cornerback on the next level.

6. This is why Keith Williams and Donte' WIlliams make the big bucks. They are both big-time recruiters and, now that Mike Riley is able to pair them up with one another out on the West Coast, they will reel in some major talent for the Huskers. They were able to land Fuller without having ever visited Nebraska over several other big offer from the likes of USC, UCLA, Michigan and Oregon to name a few. This is a recruiting war that is not likely over, but both coaches have won the first major battle for Fuller by securing his initial commitment.

7. Fuller just transferred into Hawkins this past year so he hasn't necessarily grown up with other major NU Hawkins targets like Joseph Lewis and Greg Johnson, but having him on board with Nebraska certainly won't hurt the Huskers' chances with those two, as well as all the other prospects that also hold offers from NU.
