What we know right now

It's become a common theme over the last several years for Nebraska to have turnover in the secondary coach department.

Former coach Bo Pelini had four different secondary coaches over his time at NU, while Mike Riley will be going on his second corners and safeties coaches in three years.

With that said, this is a secondary that returns two lock down corners in seniors Joshua Kalu and Chris Jones. Besides Jones and Kalu, they have the very promising Lamar Jackson back at corner, so there's a lot to work with this spring. You also wonder if Jackson is a candidate to play some safety, or will he be a corner under the new defensive staff?

At safety, Aaron Williams, Kieron Williams and Antonio Reed all bring starting experience to the table, but they will be pushed by a group of younger players this spring. The Huskers redshirted three defensive backs last season, and sophomores Avery Anderson, Eric Lee and JoJo Domann all figure to be a factor.

Biggest question to answer: What changes will new positions coaches bring?

With a new corners and safeties coach, along with a new defensive coordinator, you have to think some things will change on the back end this spring.

I'm sure both Bob Elliott and Bob Diaco have studied game and practice film from last year to learn more about the players they inherit on the backhand.

This is a group that has a ton of potential going into the spring, but there's no question the way they finished against Iowa and Tennessee left a lot to be desired.

Both Jones and Kalu seem like solid starters at corner, but the safety position could be a real grab bag on what direction the new coaches decide to go.

Spring dark horse: JoJo Domann

If there's somebody that has a chance to make some noise this spring based on the way last year finished, keep your eyes on sophomore safety JoJo Domann.

The Colorado native is a natural playmaker, and his forced fumble in the bowl game was a small sample size of the potential he has going forward.

With a new defensive coordinator and position coach, Domann has the chance to really make a move this spring.
