Frazier named head coach at Doane College

Former Nebraska quarterback Tommie Frazier was hired Tuesday as coach at Doane College, his first head coaching job in college football, the Crete, Neb., school announced Tuesday.
Frazier was to be introduced at a Wednesday morning news conference in Crete.
Frazier takes over for Fran Schwenk, who was 114-87-3 at Doane, an NAIA school in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Schwenk is the new head coach at William Jewel College in Liberty, Mo.
Frazier, who came to Nebraska from Bradenton, Fla, as one of the most highly recruited quarterbacks in the country, led the Huskers to the 1994 and 1995 national championships. He was the Heisman Trophy runnerup and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 1995.
He passed for 3,521 yards and 43 touchdowns and rushed for another 1,955 yards and 36 touchdowns in his four seasons at Nebraska.
Frazier had been working as assistant director of athletic development at Nebraska. Before coming back to NU, he was an assistant coach at Baylor for four years under Kevin Steele.
