***Head coach Mike Riley confirmed there will be five suspensions for the first game due to a violation of team rules, but he declined to specify at this time who they were. He said he was still thinking through when to release the names, and they might not be revealed until game week.
***Receiver Sam Burtch and cornerback Chris Jones had the exact same minor procedure done on meniscus injuries and they are hoping both will be back in time for the first game. Right now they are considered questionable for the BYU opener.
***Former offensive lineman Givens Price has been moved to the defensive tackle position in an effort for him to see more playing time. Riley said Price and the staff have been considering making the move for a couple days, and that Price said that he wanted do it.
***Riley also confirmed that tight end Jared Blum is transferring to South Dakota State.
***Running back Jordan Stevenson is out with what Riley called a "bad ankle", and he was seen in a boot on his right foot with a crutch at practice tonight. Riley doen't believe it will be a long term deal.
***Nebraska's receiver injury situation somehow has gotten even worse, as six wide outs sat out of Thursday's practice with various injuries. Along with Burtch, De'Mornay Pierson-El, Brandon Reilly, Taariq Allen and Lane Hovey all were sidelined. In addition, Jordan Westerkamp suited up but did not participate in hardly any team work.
***Nebraska added a new receiver to the 105-man roster as a result in redshirt freshman walk-on Bryan Reimers.
***NFL scouts from the Jacksonville Jaguars and San Fransisco 49ers were in attendance for Thursday's practice.
