Game week is finally here, and as we move closer to kickoff we put a wrap on Nebraska's final preparations for Fresno State.

Here is this week's 3-2-1 column, as we tell you three things we learned, ask two questions and make one bold prediction.

THREE THINGS WE LEARNED

1 - Nebraska wasted no time honoring Sam Foltz outside Memorial Stadium

I thought it was pretty neat how fast Nebraska acted in honoring the life of punter Sam Foltz with a special tribute to him outside Memorial Stadium. Foltz's death has touched so many, and for the University to act so quickly and create a memorial for him deserves some major credit. This took a lot of planning to build and get it ready for this weekend.

2 - Jackson and Bryant are a cut above in the freshman class

When you look at Nebraska's true freshman class, it's pretty clear to me that two players are a cut above the rest. Running back Tre Bryant and cornerback Lamar Jackson possess a special "it" factor that has already gotten the attention of the coaching staff.

With the situation on Saturday in the secondary, do not be surprised at all if you see Jackson play a major role in this game. It's been a long time since a true freshman defensive back will get this type of opportunity to play in the base defense in a season opener.

You also have to be really impressed with what Bryant has shown. For the staff to put him ahead of sophomore Mikale Wilbon says a lot. Typically an "OR" would be put on the depth chart, but they clearly feel Bryant is a cut above Wilbon and we should get a good taste of his ability on Saturday.

3 - This will be the biggest recruiting ever at Nebraska in terms of star power

In terms of recruiting weekends, this upcoming Saturday will be the best ever in the modern day Rivals era, which date backs to the early 2000's. In all, three Rivals 5-star prospects will visit Lincoln, and seven overall in the Rivals100. A total of 11 prospects will make official visits, and nine of them are ranked four stars or higher, with the other two being 5.7 three stars.

It's really incredible how big this weekend will be for the Huskers, as you may not see another in college football this year with this type of star power. It's a testament to the organization of the staff and the legwork they've done to put this type of weekend together.

TWO QUESTIONS HEADING INTO THE FRESNO STATE GAME

1 - Can Nebraska's offensive line establish a "physical identity?"

Offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh said on Wednesday that it will be important for his line to establish a physical identity from the get-go on Week 1. With so many new faces being broken in on Saturday, there's a lot of questions still how good this line really is?

From Cavanaugh's perspective they've had a good August, but can they be a productive Big Ten line? That remains to be seen.

2 - How will the safety position hold up on Saturday?

The Huskers already know they are going to be without All-Big Ten caliber safety Nate Gerry, but there's also a pretty good chance they may be without his back-up sophomore Antonio Reed as well.

This puts a lot of pressure on both Keiron and Aaron Williams to step up and carry the load. It also puts redshirt freshman Avery Anderson in a position where he could see quality time on Saturday, as well as freshman JoJo Domann.

ONE BOLD PREDICTION: TE Cethan Carter will be the highest drafted senior

From all accounts this August the NFL scouts have really been intrigued with the potential of senior Nebraska tight end Cethan Carter. There have been countless different teams visiting Lincoln this past month, and most of the attention seems to be focused on Carter.

Look for the Louisiana native to have a big senior year and be the highest player drafted in NU's senior class.
