Nebraska locked up one of its few remaining needs on Sunday as Carmel, Indiana tight end Kurt Rafdal announced he intends to sign with the Huskers.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound Rafdal had recently taken official visits to NU and Iowa before deciding the weekend prior to National Signing Day. The one-time Indiana Hoosier commit had positive reviews of his official visit to Lincoln two weeks ago.

"It was a great visit," Rafdal told HuskerOnline.com following his Nebraska visit. "I visited Nebraska in June, but I didn't have a great chance to talk to the coaches or meet a lot of the players. I wanted to get some more time with all of them while on this visit.

"I really liked talking to (tight ends) coach Tavita Thompson. They see me as a true Y. They showed me some film from their time at Oregon State and said that this is what they saw me doing.

"I also got a chance to talk a lot with the OC, Danny Langsdorf. He said that with Tommy Armstrong being more of a mobile quarterback that they will be moving more to a pro-style offense."

Rafdal's commitment gives Nebraska 19 known verbal commitments and he joins Austin Allen as the Huskers' other true tight end commit in this class.
