Public address announcers chosen
Patrick Combs and Jim Rose will serve as public address announcers for football and men’s basketball, respectively, during the 2003-04 season, the Nebraska Athletic Department announced Tuesday.
Combs, who served as the announcer at the Red-White Spring Game on April 19, was chosen as the public address announcer for Nebraska football games at Memorial Stadium, while Rose, the voice of Husker football and baseball on the Pinnacle Sports Radio Network, was selected as the in-arena announcer for Husker men’s basketball games at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Combs and Rose were selected from a group of nine very qualified applicants who auditioned in front of a committee of athletic department personnel in April for the positions.
Combs and Rose will replace Rick Schwieger, who has served as the public address announcer for football and men’s basketball. Schwieger, who began announcing Husker football games in 1994, resigned his positions as public address announcer and assistant director of athletic development to pursue a career as a television announcer for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on the SPEED Channel in February.
