Observations from Nebraska's open practice

"That's it, 'Mal! Oh, I like that, but finish," Nebraska football receivers coach Garret McGuire yelled to Wake Forest transfer wideout Jahmal Banks, who certainly will provide size on the outside at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds.

"You have to fight to not let him inside," defensive coordinator Tony White barked at lengthy 6-3 walk-on corner Cooper Wilson.

Those were just a couple of the instructions heard at Thursday's 20-minute open practice period inside Hawks Championship Center. Members of the local media were able to get their first real look at the Huskers in pads during the morning session.
