NU OL commit Bando celebrates birthday in Lincoln

Today is Broc Bando's birthday and he couldn't think of a better way to spend it than in his hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska taking his official visit to see the Cornhuskers play a home game.

"It was amazing!" Bando said of his return to his hometown. "I got to spend time with the coaches, the players and my family, so it was a great time.

"The highlight was just being able to relax with the coaches and the players after the game in the players' lounge as if I was one of them already. I also spent time with Brenden Jaimes and all of the other committed guys."

Being a native of Lincoln, Bando has attended Husker football games in the past, but there was something special about this one being his official visit.

"The game day atmosphere was really good and it was a good win," Bando shared. "It was a great fourth quarter. We came out and said, 'this is our quarter,' and we dominated that quarter. It was a great day!"

Bando also spent time with Coach Mike Cavanaugh, Coach Mike Riley, and his player host Matt Farniok.

"We hung around a good mix of players and everyone gets along well," Bando said. "They joke around and it's like a family almost. After that, I went back and hung out with some old [high school] friends.

"Coach Riley is great, he's a great guy. We talked about me graduating early and making sure I'm on track for all of that. We also talked about what IMG is like and about my family."

The starting right tackle for the undefeated Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy team said that it took a couple games for him to do you see his new position, but now it feels like home.

"The first few games were rough trying to get back to playing at tackle," Bando stated, "but now that I've got some games under my belt, I am doing good."
