Nebraska Volleyball: Huskers ranked No. 1 in newest AVCA Poll

The Nebraska Volleyball team was voted No. 1 in the newest AVCA Poll released by the organization Monday afternoon. The Huskers top the college volleyball charts after defeating previously ranked No. 1 Wisconsin in five sets this last Saturday in Lincoln. Nebraska received 63 of the 64 first-place votes with the Badgers receiving the lone leftover.

Nebraska has now been ranked No. 1 in 103 all-time polls which extends the Huskers' NCAA record for most all-time. It's also the 613th consecutive week of being ranked for NU which is currently the longest active streak in Division I sports, topping other elite programs such as Connecticut women's basketball and North Carolina women's soccer.

The Badgers move back to No. 2 after losing its first game of the season and first game to Nebraska since 2017. Saturday's loss for UW also snapped the program's 27-match winning streak in the Big Ten while Nebraska's first-set win was the first set loss for Wisconsin in 30 games.

Stanford follows both teams at No. 3 with Louisville at No. 4 and Texas at No. 5. Washington State drops to No. 6 after losing to No. 9 Oregon on Sunday. Creighton dropped down to No. 17 from No. 15 despite a 2-0 weekend. No. 15 Kentucky is the big mover going up five spots after being ranked No. 20 last week. UC Santa Barbara is the only new team in the rankings coming in at No. 25.
