Morrow impressed with visit back home

Seeing how he spent the first 10 years of his life in Lincoln, Edward Morrow's unofficial visit to Nebraska this weekend wasn't exactly all that new of an experience. However, seeing just how far the city and the Husker basketball program have come since his last trip definitely intrigued the 2015 Rivals150 power forward from Simeon (Ill.) High School.
Though he had gone to Nebraska hoops games as a kid with his parents, both of whom are former NU athletes, Morrow said he was more than impressed with Nebraska's new basketball facilities and the caliber of program head coach Tim Miles and his staff were building.

"I really enjoyed my trip," Morrow said. "It's a lot different from when I used to live here. Everything is getting better. The city and population is bigger and they've gotten more (NU basketball) fans and more support. They have a great team and great players. I got to spend a little time with the guys, and of course I got to go to the spring game. I also got to check out one of their open gyms, so I enjoyed myself.
"I've been to games before when they were originally at the Bob Devaney Center, but that was when I was a lot younger. Seeing it now at Pinnacle (Bank) Arena, it's actually pretty nice compared to a lot of arenas. I was definitely impressed."
Along with touring the campus and facilities and meeting some current Husker players, Morrow and his family had a long talk with Nebraska's coaching staff about what their program had to offer as well as how the No. 106-ranked 2015 prospect in the country would fit within Miles's system and the university as a whole.
"They just let me know where I would fit in with their program and where you might be in four years in their program," Morrow said. "They talked about where you should be (as a player) by the time you get there and more of an understanding what it's like at that level. They said they were very interested in me, but it was more focused on me and my family than anything else."
Morrow's recruiting stock blew up during his junior season at Simeon and should only continue to skyrocket this spring and summer as he runs with the AAU power Mac Irvin Fire. Despite now boasting a much bigger profile on the recruiting scene, Morrow said he's in no rush to make a decision and probably won't even think about narrowing down his list of schools until after the AAU season wraps up later this summer.
"I'm pretty wide open," Morrow said. "I'm waiting until after I take the ACT and the summer is over with, and going into my senior season I might trim it down a little bit… I have another year and a half of school before I can even go off to college, so I'm mainly just focused on what I'm doing right now. All the other stuff will still be there. My main focus, like I've said before, is just to stay focused and keep working hard."
Morrow currently has 10 confirmed offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Creighton, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, UMass, Wyoming, Bradley and Illinois-Chicago, and that list will most certainly continue to grow significantly by the end of the summer. The 6-foot-7, 210-pounder also holds interest from Michigan State, Wisconsin, Georgetown and others.
While many other suitors will likely join the mix over the next few months, Morrow said the schools that have been on him the longest - which includes Nebraska - will hold higher priority than programs that jump in late.
"At this time, how I look at it - I'm not being cocky or anything, but the schools that are really interested in you and really want you have probably already spoken with you," Morrow said. "So coming into the summer I'm not looking to pull any big time offers or anything. I'm just looking for a program where I can succeed."
Based on his latest visit back home to Lincoln, Morrow said Nebraska could be exactly what he's looking for in the end.
"I really do like Nebraska's program and everything about it," he said. "The coaching staff, the environment, it being my hometown, the fan base, just everything. It made you feel like you were at home. I really enjoyed it and enjoyed myself."
