On Friday, about 24 hours or so before Nebraska football squared off with Michigan on Sept. 30, Luke Reimer felt an extreme soreness in his arm.
The soreness hit quickly and without warning, but he got treated with antibiotics that Friday, didn’t think much of it and eventually went to bed believing he would still be all systems go to face the country’s No. 2-ranked team the following day.
“My arm just got really, really sore out of nowhere. But I was still planning on playing,” Reimer said.
His arm still wasn’t feeling any better by Saturday morning, so he approached the team doctors to let them know “‘I still can’t move my arm,’” and from there he said it was “a little chaotic.”
