Justin McGriff commit: What does it mean for Nebraska?

Nebraska added commitment No. 10 to its 2018 recruiting class Monday night and the third commit head coach Scott Frost's first official visitor weekend as three-star Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson wide receiver Justin McGriff announced his decision to commit to the Huskers.

Here are some quick takes and analysis on what McGriff's commitment means to the Huskers.

1. McGriff gives Nebraska a much needed dimension to its wide receiving corps. At 6-foot-6, 210-pounds the Tampa, Fla. native instantly becomes the biggest wideout on NU's roster. Size at the position is something the Huskers have tried to add over the last several years and they finally have it in McGriff.

2. McGriff's physical size should prove to create mismatches on the football field. Not only does he have size that will be difficult to defend, but he also has very good hands and tracks the ball well while it's in the air.

3. McGriff is a fluid runner given his size and displays good body control on the football field. Often times prospects as big as McGriff seem fairly uncoordinated, but it seems the Huskers have landed a player that has grown into his body well and displays good body awareness and coordination.

4. One will not have to question McGriff's physicality on the football field. Not only does he show the willingness to block on film, but it appears he enjoys putting a defender on his back.

5. McGriff will never be a player that relies solely on his speed to get wide open. Therefore, he needs to run good routes and be able to make difficult catches in a crowd of defenders. Both of which he seems to do well on film.

6. Perhaps the most intriguing thing about McGriff is what he will become a couple years down the road after being in a college strength and condition program. He has a massive frame as a wideout and if he keeps growing and adding weight he could become a dangerous weapon as a tight end. He is set to sign with Nebraska on Dec. 20 and will be on campus in January as an early enrollee, so the opportunity for him to get into the strength program and possibly make an impact right away will be there.

7. Momentum - Scott Frost and his staff have been extremely busy on the recruiting trail over the last week and have been well-received by prospects and their families. Nebraska secured two commitments from its first official visit weekend on Sunday and added its third in McGriff. Two of the three have come from the state of Florida where kids are extremely familiar with what Frost and this staff have accomplished at UCF. Look for that momentum to keep rolling into this coming weekend and beyond.
