Huskers sending a message: 'Hate will never win'

While Nebraska continues to bolster its NCAA Tournament stock having now won six of its past seven games, the Huskers are also looking to make a statement off the court.

On Wednesday, head coach Tim Miles attended a protest rally at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln student union speaking out against a student who had been making white nationalist videos on YouTube as well as displaying threatening behavior to other students on campus.

Citing First Amendment rights, UNL Chancellor Ronnie D. Green issued a press release saying the university could not expel the student for his actions, which in turn has caused pushback from fellow students and faculty alike.

The NU men’s basketball program took their efforts to speak out on the issue a step further on Thursday night, when nearly every player on the team took to Twitter with a simultaneous message of “Hate will never win.”

Before previewing Saturday’s home game against Rutgers, Miles, senior guard Evan Taylor, and junior guard Glynn Watson gave further explanation on why he and his team have taken such a public stance on an uncomfortable yet important issue.
