Drake Martinez leaves Husker football program
Redshirt freshman defensive back Drake Martinez has officially left the Nebraska football program.
NU head coach Bo Pelini confirmed the news to HuskerOnline.com Saturday morning through a University spokesperson.

Martinez is the younger brother of former Husker quarterback Taylor Martinez and he redshirted the 2013 season due to a couple of different injury setbacks.
Martinez also missed the spring after having his tonsils removed. It's unknown what his future plans are going forward.
Casey Martinez, the father of Drake, sent the following text message on Saturday confirming the news of his son's decision to transfer.
"Although Coach Pelini had some plans for Drake to see action this season he ran into some health issues that became frustrating and lost quite a bit of weight and strength," Casey Martinez said. "He's now recovered most of it yet he was pretty adamant about getting a fresh start in a new school."
