Stanley Morgan's HS coach breaks down what type of player NU is getting

Nebraska added their fifth four-star commitment in New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine receiver Stanley Morgan over the weekend.

It continues a trend of the Huskers being a consistent and successful recruiting presence in the Pelican state for the past several cycles.

HuskerOnline.com was able to speak with Purple Knights head coach Cyril Crutchfield to get his take on what makes his Rivals250 player such a standout on the gridiron.

"I've coached Stanley for three years and he has really evolved into being a playmaker," Coach Crutchfield said of Morgan. "He came up as a 10th grader and actually started his 10th-grade year only because of an injury.

"But by the end of the 10th-grade year, you knew he was going to be something special. He just continued to get better, through his on the field stuff and then the things that he does off the field by just being a high character guy and a great leader."

The strength of Morgan's skills set will translate well to the collegiate level, according to Coach Crutchfield.

"He is a great route runner, he has strong hands, and in my opinion, he has great football speed in that he really does a great job of separating from the defender when the ball is in the air."

Off the field, Morgan is an asset to his school and community.

"He's a great student and just a tremendous young man," Coach Crutchfield said. "He has a great work ethic and he is great in his leadership skills. He's a leader by example. He's not one of those guys who can talk the talk but they don't walk the walk. He exhibits leadership on a daily basis."

The feeling he got while on his visit to Lincoln put Nebraska over the top with Morgan and led to his pledging to play for the Huskers.

"He just felt comfortable out there," Coach Crutchfield stated as Morgan's main reason for choosing NU. "They did a great job of selling their program.

"I think that Coach (Bo) Pelini is a heck of a coach and a great leader, so he couldn't have picked a finer place."
