Relationship with Williams seals it for St. Louis WR Brown

Nebraska picked up another big-time offensive weapon for the class of 2018.

Cameron Brown, a three-star wide receiver, from St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers, has known for over a month that he was going to be committing to Nebraska.

"I have really known that I wanted to commit to Nebraska for about five weeks," Brown said. "I would have probably committed while at their spring game, but I had a track meet and couldn't make it."

The spring game answered a big question for Brown. He was looking for some information around the quarterback situation and the offense with the new quarterbacks. He thinks that he's a great fit for the Nebraska offense.

"To be honest that was one of the things that I wanted to see about. I wanted to see who was going be throwing the football. The offense is a great fit and now they have a number of passing quarterbacks."

Brown said that he's never had a conversation with coach Keith Williams about where he fits in the offense as either an X, Z or slot. However, Brown feels that he can play any of the spots for the Huskers.

"We haven't really talked about it," Brown said. "I feel though like I could play any of the spots at Nebraska. I feel like I have that type of versatility."

Williams and Brown have a special relationship. Brown stays in regular touch with the receivers coach and thinks that he is one of the best at what he does in the country.

"We have a great relationship," Brown said about Williams. "He's always teaching and always coaching. He's one of the best at what he does in the county."

Brown will join a CBC alum who could have a real breakout year this fall. Tre Bryant is projected to be the starter this fall at running back, and while Brown never technically played with Bryant he was someone he wanted to talk to before committing to NU.

"He had nothing but great things to say to me about the school and the team," Brown said. "I am looking forward to being a teammate of his again."

Brown is one of many players in the state of Missouri that the Huskers have offered. Brown isn't sure what the others are thinking when it comes to Nebraska, but he has hope that some of them will join him in Lincoln.

"We all know each other," Brown said. "We stay in touch and we go and do things together. I don't know what the rest of them are thinking or if they are favoring Nebraska. I hope that they do follow me to Lincoln."

There is little doubt that despite committing to Nebraska that Brown is going to continue to receive recruiting attention from other schools.

However, according to Brown that additional attention will be meaningless.

“I’m shutting everybody down,” Brown said. “I came to my decision.”

Brown hauled in 11 touchdowns as a junior and had 1,203 receiving yards.
