Nebraska went into the weekend hoping to pick up a couple commitments and they accomplished that shortly after their victory against Illinois was final.
The Huskers sealed the deal with two offensive linemen tonight, but the kicker is that they both came from the 2016 class. New Lenox (Ill.) Lincoln-Way West offensive guard Bryan Brokop committed before the game started and NU wrapped up their night by adding another one of their top targets in West Des Moines (Iowa) Valley guard John Raridon.
HuskerOnline.com had a chance to catch up with the newest Husker commit shortly after he made his decision official and he talked about why he decided to commit tonight.
"I committed, I'm going to be Husker," Raridon said. "First off, I just love the atmosphere and the feel of Nebraska, and the coaching staff. After the game in the locker room I committed to (offensive line coach) John Garrison. I just told him that I was ready to be a Husker."
The 6-foot-4, 271-pound Raridon said his future position coach was more than just a little excited about the good news he received.
"(Garrison) kind of gave me a hug and told the other coaches," Raridon said. "It was just an overall celebration with me and the coaches."
Raridon said he knew coming into today's unofficial visit that he was going to commit and that the decision made by Brokop before the game didn't have much influence on him.
"No, I think I would have done it tonight no matter what the situation with (Bryan Brokop) was," Raridon said. "I took a few visits and today I just realized that Nebraska was going to be the best fit for me. So I committed."
Raridon says he'll definitely be playing on the interior of Nebraska's line and that the Huskers have even talked to him about starting out at center. He added that NU was wanting to add two interior linemen to their 2016 class which now appears to be full after today's commits.
"I think they are really leaning towards center, but I think any interior offensive line position is a possibility, but they're leaning towards center," Raridon said about where the Nebraska coaches see him playing on the next level. "They said they're taking two interior guys (in the 2016 class) and I'm not really sure about what they plans are for the rest (of the offensive line)."
Raridon is currently a four-star prospect ranked as the No. 3 guard and No. 177 overall prospect in the nation for 2016. He committed to Nebraska over offers from Illinois, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin.
