Wide receiver Darien Chase enters the transfer portal

Redshirt freshman wide receiver Darien Chase has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

A Nebraska team spokesperson confirmed the new to HuskerOnline on Friday. Chase later acknowledged the news with a Twitter statement of his own.

Chase saw action in four games as a true freshman, playing a total of 52 offensive snaps according to PFF College. He had one catch for 13 yards in 2019.

The Huskers signed the nation's No. 3 ranked receiver class in 2020 according to Rivals, highlighted by four stars Omar Manning, Zavier Betts and Marcus Fleming, along with three stars Alante Brown and Will Nixon.

Chase was also recruited by former Husker offensive coordinator Troy Walters, who was replaced this off-season by Matt Lubick.

The 6-foot-1, 200 pound Chase becomes the eighth player to leave the Huskers for the transfer portal since the 2019 season ended. Chase is also the first member of Nebraska's 2019 recruiting class to leave the program.
