3 KEYS TO VICTORY

1. Keep moving the ball

One of the biggest reasons for Nebraska's 84-59 win over Marist on Friday night was how well the Huskers were able to distribute the basketball both in transition and in the half court. Nebraska ended up with a season-high 23 assists on 34 made field goals, matching the most in a game under Tim Miles. Junior guard Glynn Watson, as could be expected, was the catalyst behind that impressive passing performance, leading the way with five assists. Watson has posted a 12-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio so far the AdvoCare Invitational, and he'll need to have that type of outing again to keep the Huskers' offense clicking.

2. Make your threes

The second biggest reason for Nebraska's scoring jump was that it made a season-high 11 3-pointers against Marist, including a career-high five by senior guard Anton Gill. It's certainly no secret that when the Huskers can be effective on the perimeter it changes the entire complexion of their offense, and that was definitely the case on Friday night. Good ball movement leads to open shots, and if NU can make those open 3-pointers the way it did last time out, it's going to be a very hard team to beat.

3. Find a way to get two

As uninspiring as Nebraska's opening effort was against Central Florida, the Huskers are still in prime position to come away from the AdvoCare Invite with two wins and improve their season record to 5-2. Yes, the wins would come against two of the lesser-rated teams in the tournament, but for NU, it's all about getting that final record as much over .500 as possible. The rest of the non-conference schedule provides plenty in the way of quality opponents, so that makes getting wins like this so important.

QUOTABLE

"If you need a response from your guys, this is exactly what you dial up. I was just proud of them. As a coach, this is what you hope your team looks like all the time."
Head coach Tim Miles on the confidence boost NU got from its win over Marist
