As HuskerOnline first reported on Friday morning in Tunnel Talk, sophomore quarterback Andrew Bunch is currently weighing his future options.
The walk-on from Tennessee started one game this season and saw action in five total games.
Head coach Scott Frost confirmed Bunch's intentions to test the transfer market in a written statement through a spokesperson on Friday, but the door remains open for him to come back in 2019.
"Andrew met with Coach Frost recently and felt it was necessary to explore his options," an NU spokesperson said. "Playing time is important to him, and we support his decision to see what other opportunities may be out there.
"He relayed to us that his heart is with this team, and that he would like to stay. We want him to be confident that Nebraska is the best place for him, so we will continue to support him as he works through this process. He plans to update everyone once he has evaluated his options.
"Andrew knows that we certainly would like to have him back next year. He is a competitor, and we are a better team with him."
Bunch's name officially entered the NCAA transfer database this week, and HuskerOnline can confirm that he's already taken one official visit to FCS school Richmond. South Dakota State is another FCS program that has expressed an interest in Bunch.
Bunch finished his sophomore season completing 31-of-47 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns. If he were to transfer to an FCS school, he'd have two years of immediate eligibility remaining.
