Here are some quick notes and observations to pass along from Nebraska's half-padded practice on Tuesday afternoon inside the Hawks Championship Center and fields north of Memorial Stadium…
***Here are the players who sat out of Tuesday practice with various injuries: Josh Banderas,Alex Lewis, Trey Foster, Matt Snyder, Peyton Newell, Jalin Barnett, Brandon Reilly, Chris Jones and Sam Burtch.
***Head coach Mike Riley said Lewis was dealing with a bruised knee but should be fine. Banderas pulled a groin as is listed as day-to-day. Foster sprained his ankle and is week-to-week. Snyder an an elbow infection that needed to be drained, but Riley said the freshman tight end was already expected to redshirt this season.
***The good news is Riley said Jones and Burtch were getting "pretty close" to returning to action after meniscus surgeries, and Taariq Allen was back at practice after missing the past couple weeks with a shin injury. Chris Weber also returned practice Tuesday.
***Riley also confirmed that true freshmen Aaron Williams, Dedrick Young, Stanley Morgan, Devine Ozigbo, Tyrin Ferguson, Antonio Reed, and Jordan Ober would all play right away this season.
***Along with Snyder, Riley said Jordan Stevenson would likely redshirt this season, but said things could always change down the line.
***Offensive lineman Dwayne Johnson, who is on scholarship but was left off the 105-man roster to open fall camp, has rejoined the team this week when the full team reported for the start of the fall semester.
