Pierson-El falls in love with NU all over again

This was Cornhusker receiver commit Demornay Pierson-El's second time in Lincoln over the past six months. He also attended the Big Red Weekend in June, and the Virginia native said that his weekend stay in Nebraska was like rekindling a romance.

"It went wonderful," Pierson-El told HuskerOnline.com. "I really loved it. It just put a newfound excitement to everything. I just fell in love with the place all over again.

"My sister and my grandfather came with me and they loved it too. They are excited for me and they're glad that I picked here. They love the support that I have and the coaching staff. They think I have everything I need to be successful here and they love it."

Kevin Gladney was his player host and Pierson-El spent considerable time with the other recruits who were in attendance.

"I hung around Zack Darlington, Trai Mosley and Chance Waz," Pierson-El relayed. "We were all together a lot, and Raymon Minor too.

"We saw D.J. Foster and Luke Gifford for a little bit, and there were also two kids there from JUCO."

Though Nebraska came out on the short end of the final score Saturday, Pierson-El said that he was still highly impressed with what he saw.

"We had five turnovers, and even for five turnovers we were still in the game. The defense played good and we could score at will, but they were just having an off day. It happens and we've just got to tune it up.

"But I liked the game a lot even though the outcome wasn't what we hoped for. It still showed how strong we were. We could have beat them but we had too many simple mistakes."

The highlight of the weekend for Pierson-El was getting to meet two Cornhusker legends.

"It was probably getting to talk with Tom Osborne for a while and seeing the wrestler Jordon Burroughs," Pierson-El shared. "I talked to him a little bit too."

NU receivers coach Rich Fisher took Pierson-El through a typical game day experience and showed him how he would be used in Nebraska's offensive attack.

His conversation with head coach Bo Pelini also stuck out to him.

"It went well," Pierson-El stated. "He was just telling me when I get here how I was going to get pushed and they were going to hold me to expectations.

"I will have to carry myself a certain way and if I do anything wrong with my classes or anything I'm going to have to answer to him. He also said if I needed to talk or anything he would always be there. He said he can't wait for me get there and to be prepared when I come."

Pierson-El said that he has been invited to play in the All-American Offense-Defense Bowl in Orlando and that he would likely choose to play in it.
