Nebraska will host two Friday Night Light Camps

Nebraska head football coach Mike Riley's summer football camps will have a new twist compared to what we've seen in past years.
Instead of an approach that featured overnight camps with dorm meal plans that ranged from $295 to $400 like we've seen in past years, NU will host a series of 3-hour one-day camps for high school prospects that cost $50. One would think this approach will make the 2015 camps more affordable and accessible to high school prospects around the country.
Nebraska will have two sessions for high school linemen (June 1 & 8) and two sessions for quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, linebackers and defensive backs (June 2 & 9). Both camps will cost $50 per session and run 1 to 4 pm each of day.
There will also be two sessions for kickers, punters and long snappers (June 5 & 12) that cost $30 and run from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.
However, the highlight of Riley's Husker football camp schedule will be the two "Friday Night Lights" Elite Camps NU will host on June 5 & 12 from 6 to 9 pm.
These are geared more for top level prospects and will also cost $50. It his recommended on the camp description prospects must be starters or elite level type players to attend the Friday Night Lights camp.
The Big Red Weekend will coincide with these two camps and will run on June 6 & 13. It's a completely different approach than we've seen before that is less geared at making a big profit and more geared to giving as many players an affordable opportunity to work out in front of NU's coaches. The past format cost more because of things like dorm rental and meal plans. With three-hour camps each day housing and meal plans are not necessary.
Besides the high school football camps, there will also be a series of two youth camps for grades 3 through 8 on June 3 & 4 and June 10 & 11 that will run from 9 am to 12 pm each day. The cost of the youth camps will run $100 per session.
On top of their summer football camp schedule, Nebraska also announced that their annual coaches clinic will be Saturday April 4 - one week before the April 11 Red-White game. The full format and schedule of the clinic will be released at a later date.
