Edwards schedules official visit to Nebraska

In the wake of the defections of two key players and another potentially moving on, Nebraska got some much needed good news on Monday with an opportunity to potentially add some talent to its 2015-16 roster

Three-star 2015 John Glenn (Mich.) power forward Mike Edwards told HuskerOnline.com that he has scheduled an official visit to Lincoln on Thursday and Friday. It will be the third of his five allotted official visits, as he's already been to Northern Illinois and Georgia.
Edwards likely would have scheduled his trip earlier had it not been for the NCAA basketball recruiting dead period from April 2-9. The dead period ends Thursday at 11 a.m. Central, so head coach Tim Miles and lead recruiter Jim Molinari were able to get Edwards in town as soon as they possibly could.
"Right now it's the dead period, so Thursday was the first day that we could try to fit a visit in," Edwards said. "I just decided Nebraska would be a nice place."
At this point, Edwards said Nebraska is still part of his top five list of schools along with Georgia, Kansas State, SMU and Marquette. However, his recruiting stock continues to soar as the spring signing period - which starts on April 15 - draws near.
Duke, UCLA and most recently Arizona have all started showing interest in the 6-foot-10, 222-pound stretch four.
"I'm not locked in," Edwards said of his top-five schools. "I'm just kind of staying open. I'm not sure if any of those five are going to change. I don't know."
With two remaining officials, Edwards said he would "maybe" see one more school after Nebraska but didn't think he would take all five of his visits before making a decision. As of right now, he wasn't sure where that fourth visit would be.
Though the start of the signing period is only just over a week away, Edwards said he was in no rush to make a decision, but one could be coming by the end of the month.
"Yeah, I'm not in too much of a rush," Edwards said. "I'll just say I'll probably make a decision before May."
When he does get to Nebraska, Edwards said he wasn't looking for anything in particular aside from just how he connects with NU's coaching staff and players during his visit.
"I just want to get a feel for how it is and how I would fit there," Edwards said. "Basically how I could build a relationship with the coaches and the players."
