Another Dawg leaves program

Another day, another player from Georgia announcing he plans to transfer to another school.

At least this time, the reason why appears clear.

On Tuesday, Georgia announced that backup wide receiver Uriah LeMay was transferring in order to receive more playing time.

"Uriah made the decision in order to have a better opportunity for playing time," head coach Mark Richt said in a statement. "He has our best wishes in achieving all his goals as a student and athlete."

Lemay, who caught a touchdown pass in Georgia's G-Day game, would have found playing time difficult this fall.

The Bulldogs return Chris Conley, Michael Bennett, along with Malcolm Mitchell and Justin Scott-Wesley, both of whom are coming off ACL injuries. Returnees Jonathan Rumph, Reggie Davis, Kenneth Towns and Blake Tibbs are also expected to play significant roles, while Brendan Langley was just moved over to the offensive side. The Bulldogs also have a trio of incoming receivers in Isaiah McKenzie, Gilbert Johnson and Shakenneth Williams.

This isn't the first time that LeMay has been in the news.

Last March, LeMay, along with defensive lineman John Taylor, defensive end James DeLoach and safety Tray Matthews, were arrested and charged with misdemeanor theft by deception after double-dipping stipend checks of $71.50 issues by the Georgia athletic department.

Richt has yet to announce any punishment, including any possible suspensions, for the remaining three players.

LeMay, who redshirted as a true freshman, was charged with four of the thefts and released after posting a $6,000 bond.

His older brother, quarterback Christian LeMay, transferred to Jacksonville State earlier this year.
