Marrow accepts job at Kentucky

According to the Courier-Journal News, Nebraska graduate assistant and tight ends coach Vince Marrow has officially accepted a job on Mark Stoops' staff at Kentucky.

Kyle Tucker of the Courier-Journal News spoke with Marrow on Wednesday to officially confirm the news. Marrow told Tucker he was filling out the final paperwork for Kentucky as they speak.

"My childhood friend and high school buddy got a job, and I'm here to help him turn this thing around," Marrow told the Courier-Journal News.

Marrow's loss on the staff puts NU's recruiting class in question going forward, as he was directly tied to all five of NU's Ohio commits and he served as the lead recruiter on Woodland Hills (Calif.) Pierce C.C. tight end Beau Sandland. The four-star tight end is expected to make his final decision sometime next week.

The Courier-News asked Marrow directly on Wednesday if any of NU's current Ohio commits could follow him to Kentucky.

"Time will tell, brother," Marrow told Tucker.

Marrow has been recruiting on the road for the Big Red for most of the year because of a surgery offensive line coach Barney Cotton had. A year ago he recruited in the place of Carl Pelini when he left in December to take the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic.

Marrow's son Mike Marrow is currently one of three fullbacks that sees action for the Huskers.

Calls to Marrow by HuskerOnline.com were not returned on Wednesday, but on Tuesday he told HOL he was still thinking things over, but was close to signing the paperwork to join Stoops' staff at Kentucky.

Stoops, Pelini and Marrow all attended Youngstown Cardinal Mooney at the same time and played high school football and basketball together.
