Texas Tech loses heartbreaker to Iowa State

AMES, Iowa - Craig Brackins scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Iowa State beat Texas Tech 78-76 Saturday to lock up the 10th seed for next week's Big 12 tournament.

Senior Bryan Petersen added a career-high 20 in his final home game for the Cyclones (15-16 4-12 Big 12), who snapped a four-game losing streak to the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech's John Roberson buried a 3 with 33 seconds left to pull the Red Raiders within 77-76. Diante Garrett then missed a free throw, giving Texas Tech a chance for the win on the game's final possession.

The Red Raiders (13-18, 3-13) had two good looks at the basket, but John Roberson missed an open 3 from the corner and Mike Singletary's 3 at the buzzer bounced off the rim.

Roberson had 23 points to lead Texas Tech, which finished the regular season 0-11 on the road. The Red Raiders will be seeded 11th for the Big 12 tournament.
