Cats steal three-for-all
In a game where the teams combined for 24 3-pointers, it was a steal that won the game for Northwestern.
Kevin Coble scored 19 points and stole an inbounds pass with five seconds left to enable Northwestern to escape with a wild 77-75 win over Indiana at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The Wildcats and Hoosiers each hit 12-of-23 (52.2 percent) 3-pointers in the contest.
Indiana's Devan Dumes drained 6-of-10 triples and led the Hoosiers with 26 points. Dumes tallied five of those 3s and 21 of his points in the first half, which ended with the score knotted at 39.
Craig Moore paced Northwestern with 21 points, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc and two free throws with 6.6 seconds left to seal the win. Michael Thompson had 15 points and five assists for the Wildcats (11-7, 3-5 Big Ten).
Indiana (5-14, 0-7), which has now lost 10 games in a row, nearly pulled off an upset, erasing a 10-point lead to tie the game at 75 on a Matt Roth 3-pointer with 36 seconds left.
But Moore hit two free throws to provide the final margin. Coble then stole Indiana's inbound pass after a timeout and dribbled out the clock to preserve the victory.
