Purdue, Hummel honored

CHICAGO - Big Ten media agree with all the preseason buzz about Purdue.

The Boilermakers were voted the league's preseason favorite, announced Sunday morning at the league's media day event in Chicago. Michigan State and Wisconsin took second and third, respectively.

Sophomores Robbie Hummel and E'Twaun Moore were named preseason first-team All-Big Ten.

Hummel was named Preseason Player-of-the-Year.

Also voted to the first team were Michigan's Manny Harris, Michigan State's Raymar Morgan and Wisconsin's Marcus Landry.

On the women's side, a coaches poll picked Purdue as the preseason favorite; the media picked Ohio State.

Both outfits picked Ohio State's Jantel Lavender as Player-of-the-Year.
