Fall camp: Day one notes

RELATED: Nine questions with Joe Craddock

Fall camp got underway in very hot conditions Saturday afternoon as Middle Tennessee officially turned its attention to getting ready for the August 28th season opener against Troy.

Who stood out on day one in Murfreesboro?

GoMiddle.com takes a look at five key performers from Saturday.

Fall camp day one notes
Joe Craddock

Craddock completed just 6 of 12 passes in 7-on-7 drills, but overall looked very solid. He stood calm and poised in the pocket and made some tough throws.
Dwight Dasher

The sophomore struggled with his consistency and threw some erratic passes, but also had his impressive moments. He completed one beautiful pass to newly arrived wide receiver Chris McClover.
Chris McClover

The junior college wide receiver transfer impressed in 7-on-7 drills by using his big 6-foot-5 frame to go over the top of defenders and make some tough grabs. McClover played in just four games last year due to injury but has demonstrated high level speed both on the football field and the track.
Wes Hofacker

The senior defensive end will be counted on as a major leader this year and he got off to a great start in fall camp on Saturday. The 252 pounder reached his hand up to deflect a pass from Dasher during 7-on-7 drills, leading to an interception for freshman safety Denzell Guerra. That was the first of three interceptions by the defense on the day.
Patrick Honeycutt

Honeycutt is the best and most experienced receiver returning to the roster in 2008 and he played like it on Saturday. He looked smooth and fluid catching all four passes that came his way and continued to show why he is the best route runner among all Blue Raider receivers. The 5-9, 172 pound junior continues to play beyond his size.
