DE prospect impresses in Corvallis

Bryan Burke certainly looks the part at 6-foot-4, 215-pounds. Strangely enough, the projected weakside defensive end from Payson High School in Arizona is still awaiting his first scholarship offer but there's no question that Burke is definitely knocking on the door. He just finished off a hard tour of several college campuses for their camps and is hoping that he showed those staffs that he's worthy of a full-ride grant for the next four-to-five years.

"I just got done with all my camps and now I'm just starting with team camp," Burke said. "I went to five different (individual) camps and they all went really good. Two of them were full contact ones, so I got a lot of game experience and I learned a lot. All the coaches said that I did pretty good with my get-off and they all liked my athleticism."

Burke's schedule this past month included trips to camps at Arizona State, Northern Arizona, UNLV, Colorado, and most recently, Oregon State.

"The OSU coaches said that they're going to talk about me and keep in touch - they said they really liked me," Burke said. "So there might be a good chance that they might (offer) and if they do, I'd probably (commit). They're up there."

Burke names Oregon State as one of his top two schools, with the Beavers going to the top after his camp visit.

"It's a beautiful campus and they've got a really good program there," Burke said. "That'd be awesome if I ended up playing there. I've got a bunch of family around Corvallis too. But it just depends, I'd have to talk to my parents. Growing up in Arizona I'm a Sun Devils fan, so Arizona State and Oregon State would be my top two."

Burke is looking forward to maintaining contact with the OSU coaching staff, with assistant coach (Mike) Cavanaugh heading up his recruitment. In addition to OSU and ASU, the other schools currently looking at him include Colorado, Colorado State, Cal, UNLV, and Northern Arizona.
