Clark remains a Cardinal

Louisville sophomore Earl Clark has decided to stay in school and compete in his junior year of college basketball, according to the school and head coach Rick Pitino. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 11.1 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game, and 1.7 block shots this past season for the Cardinals, helping them to a 27-9 record and an Elite Eight appearance.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Clark left the Louisville team and announced he would enter the NBA draft. Now he has changed his mind.

"Earl is looking forward to having a great junior season," said Pitino. "I'm delighted he has made the prudent decision to return to school. He'll definitely be one of the premier forward in college basketball next season. He's a hard worker that has really improved each day and will continue to do so."

During the Cardinals' NCAA tournament run, Clark averaged a team-leading 14.5 points, 8.3 rebounds and blocked seven shots while hitting 62.2 percent of his shots (23-of-37). An NCAA East Region All-Tournament selection, Clark produced a double-double in ten games this season, including a 17-point, 12 rebounds, and four blocked shot
performance against Tennessee in the East Region semifinals.

Clark coming back solidifies an already talented Cardinal team that is loaded on the perimeter. Along with senior Terrence Williams and incoming freshmen Samardo Samuels and Terrence Jennings, Clark will make up a formidable front line to go along with an experience backcourt that includes senior Andre McGee, juniors Reginald Delk (transfer), Jerry Smith, and Edgar Sosa, and sophomore Preston Knowles.
