Jordan named to C-USA all-defensive team

A day after earning co-player of the week honors, Tulsa sophomore center Jerome Jordan earned an even bigger Conference USA accolade. The seven-footer from Jamaica was named to the C-USA all-defensive team on Tuesday, a day before the Golden Hurricane open the C-USA Tournament against East Carolina.

Jordan leads Conference USA in blocked shots with an amazing 100 blocks for a 3.45 average per game. That is a total of 39 blocks more than second-place Bamba Fall. He became Tulsa's single-season record-holder for blocked shots this year and already ranks fourth on the school's career blocks list with 117 in his two seasons.

On the year, Jordan has averaged 9.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 blocks in 29 games for the Hurricane. He has started every game for Tulsa this season and has blocked at least two shots in 26 of those contests. He also shoots 60-percent from the field.

Jordan established a new Conference USA blocked shots record by a sophomore this year, breaking the previous mark of 82 set by Cincinnati's Kenyon Martin. He also swatted 55 shots in league play which broke Memphis' Kelly Wise's record of 52 blocked shots in C-USA games.
