Beasley named Big 12 Rookie of the Week

IRVING, Texas - J.T. Tiller (Missouri) and Aleks Maric (Nebraska) have been selected the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Players of the Week, while Michael Beasley (Kansas State) has been chosen for rookie honors for games of Jan. 28 - Feb. 3 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. It is the first weekly accolade for Tiller, second for Maric and sixth for Beasley this season.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
J.T. Tiller, Missouri, G, So., 6-3, 190, Marietta, Ga./Wheeler

Tiller started both games last week for the short-handed Tigers as Missouri split two contests. The sophomore guard posted back-to-back career scoring efforts with 14 points against Nebraska followed by 20 points versus Kansas State. He was 7-of-15 from the field with eight rebounds as MU dropped a 66-62 decision to the Huskers. He followed that with a 7-of-13 shooting performance, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range, in a 77-74 victory over K-State. Tiller scored Missouri's final five points in the win, including a conventional 3-point play that put the Tigers in front to stay. He was 14-of-28 (.500) from the floor in two games, with 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Aleks Maric, Nebraska, C, Sr., 6-11, 275, Sydney, Australia/Australian Institute for Sport/Life Center [N.J.]
Maric captures his fourth career weekly honor (three player, one rookie) after helping NU to wins over Missouri and Iowa State (64-56). The senior center averaged a double-double with 13.5 points and 13.0 rebounds. He started with 13 points and 13 boards versus MU and followed with 14 points and 13 rebounds against ISU. He shot 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from the floor in two games, while hitting 5-of-6 (.833) from the free throw line. Maric also added three assists, three blocks and three steals. He has 28 career double-doubles, the most among active Big 12 players.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Michael Beasley, Kansas State, F, Fr., 6-10, 235, Washington, D.C./Notre Dame Prep [Mass.]

Beasley wins his second consecutive rookie honor after averaging 21.0 points and 8.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Wildcats. The freshman forward began with a 25-point effort in K-State's 84-75 upset of then-No. 2 Kansas at Bramlage Coliseum. He was 9-of-18 from the floor, including a career-high 4-of-4 from beyond the arc. It was the Wildcats' first home win over KU since 1983. He then posted his 17th double-double of the year in the loss at Missouri with 17 points and 10 boards. In two games, he was 15-of-30 (.500) from the floor and 4-of-5 (.800) from the foul line.
