Morgan's big night leads Spartans to victory

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Raymar Morgan had a career-high 25 points and 15 rebounds to help No. 12 Michigan State beat Chicago State 86-53 on Tuesday night in a first-round game of the CBE Classic.

Morgan had 15 points and six rebounds in the first half to help the Spartans grab a 45-26 lead.

All-American Drew Neitzel added 12 points for Michigan State.

David Holston scored 18 points and had four 3-pointers for the Cougars, who led 18-17 before the Spartans took control with a 28-8 surge to finish the half.

Freshmen Durrell Summers and Kalin Lucas provided first-half energy for Michigan State. Another newcomer, Chris Allen, had 13 points, while Summers added 12.

John Cantrell and Chidozie Chukwumah each had 10 points for Chicago State.

Michigan State will face Louisiana-Monroe, a 60-53 winner over Northern Michigan, on Wednesday.
