1. OHIO STATE (7-0)
Troy who? Teddy who? Antonio who? Next: vs. Michigan State.
2. USF (6-0)
USF vs. UCF was like windshield vs. bug. Next: at Rutgers (Thursday).
The Patriots, the Red Sox and now the Eagles? Next thing you know, the Celtics will win the NBA title. Next: at Virginia Tech (Oct. 25).
4. OKLAHOMA (6-1)
Yeah, the Sooners sure had trouble with Missouri. Next: at Iowa State.
5. LSU (6-1)
Can't mope for too long. Auburn and its salty defense is coming to town. Next: vs. Auburn.
The Gamecocks' victory over Kentucky looks even better now. Next: vs. Vanderbilt.
7. KENTUCKY (6-1)
In years past, UK would've folded when it was hit in the mouth. Not anymore. Next: vs. Florida.
Almost a miracle win. Instead, it was a haunting loss. Next: at UCLA.
9. OREGON (5-1)
Man, it looked as if Ducks were playing against air vs. Washington State. Next: at Washington.
Is there an unbeaten team that's received less notice nationally this season? Next: vs. California (Oct. 27).
Four of Mountaineers' first six games were on the road Next: vs. Mississippi State.
12. USC (6-1)
We expected big offensive numbers vs. Arizona. Maybe Trojans just can't do that anymore. Next: at Notre Dame.
13. FLORIDA (4-2)
Gators haven't lost to Kentucky since 1986. But this isn't your dad's Kentucky. Next: at Kentucky.
Hokies found their passing attack. But the opponent was Duke, so does that count? Next: vs. Boston College (Oct. 25).
15. KANSAS (6-0)
Best thing about KU's schedule? No Oklahoma, Texas or Texas Tech. Next: at Colorado
16. AUBURN (5-2)
That defense is something else. Same goes for the offense - but we can't print that. Next: at LSU.
17. MISSOURI (5-1)
Tigers were treated like an unruly school kid by Oklahoma. Next: vs. Texas Tech.
18. KANSAS STATE (4-2)
K-State defense was way too tough for Colorado. Next: at Oklahoma State.
19. TENNESSEE (4-2)
In BCS computer rankings, Vols are tied for 17th with Florida - which beat them by 39. Next: at Alabama.
20. TEXAS (5-2)
Everything that ailed Texas went away for a day. Too bad Iowa State isn't the opponent every week. Next: at Baylor.
21. GEORGIA (5-2)
Bulldogs barely escaped losing to Vandy. It would've been their second loss in a row to Commodores. Next: vs. Florida (in Jacksonville, Oct. 27).
22. HAWAII (7-0)
Hey, maybe Colt Brennan throws all those picks to keep the games close. Next: vs. New Mexico State (Oct. 27).
23. MICHIGAN (5-2)
Well, what do you know? Michigan and Ohio State are Big Ten's only unbeatens. Next: at Illinois.
24. TEXAS TECH (6-1)
A victory this week and we'll truly start to believe the Red Raiders are good. Next: at Missouri.
25. CINCINNATI (6-1)
Bearcats' nine-game winning streak had been the nation's second-longest. Next: at Pittsburgh.
26. ILLINOIS (5-2)
Young Illini evidently couldn't live with success. Next: vs. Michigan.
27. VIRGINIA (6-1)
Yes, they have a gaudy record. But, no, we still don't think they're that good. Next: at Maryland.
28. PENN STATE (5-2)
Off-the-field issues didn't bother Nittany Lions last week. Next: at Indiana.
29. WISCONSIN (5-2)
Big Ten teams were too tough, so now Badgers hope to beat up on a MAC school. Next: vs. Northern Illinois.
Hmm -- maybe Xavier Lee isn't the savior after all. Next: vs. Miami.
31. ALABAMA (5-2)
A lot of folks don't like Nick Saban. But to Alabama fans, Phillip Fulmer is Satan. Next: vs. Tennessee.
32. BOISE STATE (5-1)
If you missed Broncos' win over Nevada on Sunday, you missed the best game this season. Next: at Louisiana Tech.
33. BYU (4-2)
Cougars were sluggish against UNLV. That shouldn't be a problem this week. Next: vs. Eastern Washington.
34. WAKE FOREST (4-2)
Demon Deacons have won four in a row. Can they make it five? Next: vs. Navy.
Spartans didn't want to hear about Indiana's feel-good story. Next: at Ohio State.
36. COLORADO (4-3)
When Buffs can't run, things can get mighty ugly. Next: vs. Kansas.
37. UCLA (4-2)
Bruins still are unbeaten in conference play. Next: vs. California.
38. CLEMSON (4-2)
Tigers were off last week. Presumably, they did some extra work on special teams. Next: vs. Central Michigan.
39. MARYLAND (4-2)
This week is second of three consecutive home games for Terps. Next: vs. Virginia.
40. PURDUE (5-2)
We hereby take a vow: Next season, we won't pay attention to Purdue until Big Ten play begins. Next: vs. Iowa.
41. TEXAS A&M (5-2)
Hey, Coach Fran: You need a real-estate agent? We know a few in your area. Next: at Nebraska.
42. WYOMING (4-2)
Maybe the snow flurries caused Cowboys to lose focus against New Mexico. Next: at Air Force
43. RUTGERS (4-2)
Scarlet Knights get another chance to beat a legit opponent this week. Next: vs. USF (Thursday).
44. LOUISVILLE (4-3)
Maybe - maybe - the Cardinals have got it together. Next: at Connecticut (Friday).
45. OREGON STATE (4-3)
Young QB's brain cramp enabled Beavers to pull upset at Cal. Next: vs. Stanford (Oct. 27).
46. GEORGIA TECH (4-3)
Is Tashard Choice the best player in the ACC? You certainly can make that case. Next: vs. Army.
47. ARKANSAS (3-3)
If it comes down to the final minute, the Hogs generally end up losing. Next: at Ole Miss.
Now that the football team has lost, focus can shift to the basketball team. Next: vs. Louisville (Friday).
We asked the Cowboys, and they're willing to play at Nebraska every Saturday for rest of the season. Next: vs. Kansas State.
50. TCU (4-3)
Horned Frogs actually used their passing attack to beat Stanford. Wow. Next: vs. Utah (Thursday).
51. MIAMI (4-3)
Hey, Hurricanes, Tashard Choice just gained 6 more yards on you. Next: at Florida State.
52. NEW MEXICO (4-2)
Long weather delay didn't faze Lobos against Wyoming. Next: at San Diego State.
53. IOWA (3-4)
The offense still didn't show up, but, hey, a win's a win. Next: at Purdue.
54. TROY (4-2)
Trojans had last week off. Hmm - wonder if they're already thinking about game with Georgia on Nov. 3. Next: vs. North Texas.
55. AIR FORCE (5-2)
Huge game this week, with loser essentially out of Mountain West race. Next: vs. Wyoming.
56. TULSA (4-2)
QB Paul Smith having a phenomenal season. Is anyone noticing? Next: at UCF.
ECU beat UNC at home earlier this season. Now, NC State comes calling. Next: vs. NC State.
58. INDIANA (5-2)
Becoming bowl-eligible is going to have to wait for at least one more week. Next: vs. Penn State.
Victory over lowly Thundering Herd keeps Golden Eagles in thick of C-USA East race. Next: at Marshall (Sunday).
Next two games are against top-10 teams: West Virginia and Kentucky. Next: at West Virginia.
61. WASHINGTON (2-4)
Remember that 2-0 start? Yeah, neither do we. Next: vs. Oregon.
62. STANFORD (2-4)
Cardinal won at USC. Then, they lose at home to TCU. Next: at Arizona.
63. HOUSTON (3-3)
Cougars had 200-yard rusher and a 300-yard receiver last week. Next: at UAB.
64. NAVY (4-2)
Middies will be going for their fourth win in a row this week. Next: vs. Wake Forest.
65. NEBRASKA (4-3)
A legit offense against Huskers defense is akin to a scythe going through a patch of weeds. Next: vs. Texas A&M.
66. FRESNO STATE (4-2)
Down in the valley: Bulldogs' next three games are at home. Next: vs. San Jose State.
67. UTAH (4-3)
If QB Brian Johnson can stay healthy, Utes will have say in who wins Mountain West. Next: at TCU (Thursday).
Tar Heels get a week off to rest up for Wake's funky offense. Next: at Wake Forest (Oct. 27).
69. ARIZONA (2-5)
Defense played well vs. USC. The offense couldn't move the ball, though. Next: vs. Stanford.
70. UCF (3-3)
Goodness gracious - a 52-point loss to USF wasn't what Knights fans were expecting. Next: vs. Tulsa.
71. VANDERBILT (3-3)
It's almost as if Commodores expect to make a mistake that costs them a game. Next: at South Carolina.
72. OLE MISS (2-5)
Rebels now have lost three in a row to Alabama - and each by three points. Next: vs. Arkansas.
73. BALL STATE (4-3)
After this week, Cardinals get two Big Ten teams in a row (Illinois and Indiana). Next: at Western Michigan.
74. UTEP (4-3)
The offense is going great. The defense? We're not sure the Miners know they're allowed to play defense. Next: Houston (Oct. 27).
QB C.J. Bacher has thrown for 990 yards the past two weeks. Yes, 990. Next: vs. Eastern Michigan (Detroit, Friday).
RedHawks look to be best team in MAC East. Next: at Temple.
After good effort vs. Arizona State, Cougars collapsed against Oregon. Next: vs. UCLA (Oct. 27).
78. NEVADA (2-4)
Wolf Pack may have lost to Boise State, but they found a QB. Next: at Utah State.
79. NOTRE DAME (1-6)
Maybe by next season, the Irish will have figured out how to play offense. Next: vs. USC.
80. PITT (2-4)
Panthers have lost four in a row and season looks to have spiraled out of control. Next: vs. Cincinnati.
After slow start, Chippewas have won three in a row. Next: at Clemson.
Falcons were hammered by Miami (Ohio) in key MAC contest. Next: at Kent State.
83. DUKE (1-6)
Blue Devils had been playing relatively well until Hokies came to town. Next: at Florida State (Oct. 27).
Broncos have won three of their past four and are in hunt in MAC West. Next: vs. Ball State.
85. N.C. STATE (1-5)
Are Wolfpack the worst team in the ACC? We say yes. Next: at East Carolina.
86. KENT STATE (3-4)
After big loss at Ohio State, Flashes play their own kind this week. Next: vs. Bowling Green.
87. UNLV (2-5)
Rebels made BYU sweat it out on Saturday. Next: vs. Colorado State.
88. SAN JOSE STATE (3-4)
Spartans had Hawaii on ropes, but Warriors landed knockout punch in OT. Next: at Fresno State.
Indians rolled up 681 yards in thumping Louisiana-Lafayette. Next: at Middle Tennessee State.
90. AKRON (3-4)
Loss to Temple puts big crimp in Zips' MAC East title hopes. Next: at Buffalo (Oct. 27).
91. OHIO U. (3-4)
Bobcats' defense almost let win over Eastern Michigan slip away late. Next: at Toledo.
Did you notice that Owls played USF a heckuva lot closer than UCF did? Next: at Louisiana-Lafayette.
93. BAYLOR (3-4)
Bad progression: Bears allowed 34 points two weeks ago, then 43, then 58. Next: vs. Texas.
Bulldogs rallied late to get new coach Derek Dooley his first win over a I-A school. Next: vs. Boise State.
95. MINNESOTA (1-6)
Golden Gophers lost in two OTs on Saturday in their third OT game of season. Next: vs. North Dakota State.
This week is first of three consecutive home games. Next: vs. New Mexico.
At least Rams know they play a I-AA team in November. Next: at UNLV.
98. IOWA STATE (1-6)
Bad defense has Oklahoma next, then Missouri. Uhhh, we see some lopsided finals. Next: vs. Oklahoma.
99. BUFFALO (3-4)
It's midseason, and Bulls are in MAC East Division race. Next: at Syracuse.
100. TEMPLE (2-5)
Break up the Owls! They've won two in a row. Next: vs. Miami University.
101. RICE (1-5)
Scored 46 against Houston. Not bad, huh? Alas, Owls allowed Cougars to score 58. Next: vs. Memphis.
No truth to rumor that Hal Mumme is taking credit for Kentucky's upset of LSU. Next: vs. Idaho.
103. ARMY (3-4)
This week's game is second in a three-game stretch of road contests. Next: at Georgia Tech
True freshman Dwight Dasher already may be second-best QB in Sun Belt. Next: vs. Arkansas State.
105. SMU (1-5)
Old-time SMU boosters remember when this program was good. Then again, it's their fault it's like this now. Next: vs. Tulane.
106. MEMPHIS (2-4)
Man, Tommy West sure could use some of John Calipari's recruiting "magic." Next: at Rice.
107. UAB (2-4)
Blazers' rallying cry: "We're the fourth-best college team in Alabama!" Next: vs. Houston.
