EA SPORTS Elite 11 Recap: Jonathan Crompton

Waynesville (N.C.) Tuscola quarterback Jonathan Crompton came in to the EA SPORTS Elite 11 regarded as one of the nation's top three quarterbacks and he did nothing to change that in our eyes. Crompton had a very good week during the camp and has all the tools to be an impact college player early in his career.

Crompton completed 166-220 balls for 2,323 yards and 23 touchdowns and was easily one of the most coveted quarterbacks in the country. He had close to 10 scholarship offers before he even took a snap his junior year from some of the nation's top programs.

One of the things we really like about Crompton is how much he has improved from a year ago. He hasn't rested on his laurels but is bigger, stronger and just plain better than he was last spring.

Here's our final, post-camp recap of the Tennessee bound signal caller:

Vol fans should be very excited about Crompton. The talented signal caller had a strong week and was arguably one of the top three quarterbacks in the camp. Crompton has everything you could want in a pocket passer- he's big and strong with a live arm and is very accurate.

He can make all the throws, including the 18 yard out, probably the toughest ball to throw, and can also take a little off and throw the touch passes. We've seen Crompton throw a ton in the past year as he was a ball boy at the Elite 11 a year ago and he has made huge strides.

The signal caller is also very sharp in the classroom and could compete early for playing time at UT because of his high football IQ and work habits. Of the 12 signal callers at the camp, Crompton would have to be right up there near the top in being the most ready to play at the college level. He really doesn't have a weakness on the football field. Even his mobility is better than average, especially for a big man, and he does a very nice of making that first guy miss.
