Other stars step to forward at Virginia NIKE Camp

CHARLOTTESVILLE - Va. All eyes were on Greenbelt (Md.) Eleanor Roosevelt athlete Derrick Williams at Sunday's NIKE Training Camp at the University of Virginia and for good reason. The preseason No. 1 player in the country did not disappoint, nor did a few other talents at the combine.

Here's a look at 10 solid camp performers in the eyes of Rivals.com Atlantic East and National Recruiting Analyst Mike Farrell.

Athlete Derrick Williams - Williams was clearly the best athlete at the camp and created the most excitement. While playing wide receiver, numerous defensive backs lined up to cover the speedster only to be embarrassed by double moves, slants and fly patterns. Williams beat nearly everyone in his way and showed why he already has 30-plus scholarship offers.

Defensive tackle Callahan Bright - Weighing in at more than 300 pounds, Bright was disappointed with his 5.0-second 40-yard dash time. However, he had an excuse (as if one is needed) - an allergic reaction to breakfast that left him sluggish to start. However, after warming up a bit, Bright was a man among boys at defensive tackle and dominated the one-on-one drills.

Athlete Brandon Woods - Woods talked more than any other player on the day, and backed it up with incredible play. He was too fast for bigger cornerbacks to handle and too strong for the smaller guys to jam. He made the catch of the day on a fly pattern in the end zone and was physically dominant throughout the day.

Defensive back Jamar Jackson - Jackson is an athletic cornerback with excellent instincts and good ball skills. On one play, he made an excellent read during a one-on-one drills that led to an interception. He can play physical or finesse, whatever is needed.

Running back Toney Baker - Baker more than passed the eyeball test, boasting massive shoulders and tree trunk legs. He was also one of the strongest players at the camp (30-bench reps) and had a great shuttle time as well. Baker was clearly the top running back in all of the drills and has a great combination of strength, speed and balance.

Offensive tackle Pat Sheil - Sheil is very big and beginning to fill out. He also has some of the quickest feet seen this year on an offensive tackle and his long reach and explosive nature off the ball left everyone impressed.

Offensive tackle Antonio North - North can play either guard or tackle and was clearly one of the more polished offensive linemen at the camp. His technique is excellent, his footwork is impressive and he has very good balance for a big man. North doesn't allow himself to get knocked off balance and comes off the ball very quickly.

Defensive end Jeff Fitzgerald - Although not as big and physically imposing as Bright, Fitzgerald was very quick and explosive and showed tremendous upside. He showed a variety of moves and is easily coached and left everyone impressed before he was done.

Quarterback Vic Hall - Hall was one of the more impressive players regardless of position. Although he started slow and looked out of sorts with his drops early (Gretna, Hall's school, throws from the shotgun), he adapted well and showed a strong arm and good accuracy. Hall had a good day when most of the other quarterbacks struggled.

Defensive tackle Camaron Thomas - Thomas was not quite as agile as Bright, but he showed good quickness off the ball and the ability to dominate in one-on-one situations. Thomas used his hands as well as any other lineman on the day.
