New offer doesn't shake Anderson

Avery Anderson's commitment to Nebraska is unchanged. But that's not to say the MVP award he took home from the Chicago stop of the Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour didn't alter his recruitment. Even in the day following, there was a noticeable change.

Ask Anderson, however, and the four-star defensive back says the difference is he's had the opportunity to tell more colleges "thanks but no thanks."

"I try to stay as straight up as possible with coaches," Anderson said. "So when Utah offered after the camp, I just gave them regular stuff. I told them, 'I'm 100-percent committed to Nebraska right now but thanks for the interest and the love.'"

So when Utah offered Anderson a scholaship on Monday afternoon, it changed nothing. The social media messages he received from Washington, Utah State, Colorado and others congratulating him on his MVP performance were met with different versions of the same line.

Projecting recruiting is impossible. Minds change and situations shift. But, at least for now, it seems as though Anderson's standing as a member of Nebraska' class will be tough to change. There's no wandering eye at work. Anderson remains focused on his early graduation date and arriving in Lincoln in time for next year's spring workouts.

"I talk to Nebraska all the time," Anderson said. "Right after the camp, my first Twitter messages were from Coach (Charlie) Warren and Coach (Barney) Cotton. They were the first ones to contact me to say congrats and ask how the rest of the guys did."

As of now, Anderson says he doesn't plan to visit any college campuses or attend a single team camp this summer.

As a junior at Colorado's Pine Creek High School, Anderson played both offense and defense on a team that captured the state title.
