Husker staff drops in on Florida defender
Kevin Bronson. With some down time between the end of the regular season and the bowl game, the Husker coaching staff has been hot on the recruiting trail of several prospects, including new defensive end target
The Village Academy product has collected his fair share of major offers but has generally narrowed things down to a smaller, more manageable list of possible destinations.
"My top schools that I'm still considering are Rutgers, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Nebraska and Arkansas," Bronson said."
Several of those schools took the chance to drop by and visit with Bronson over the last two weeks including one from Nebraska.
"South Carolina and Rutgers were recent visits. I actually just took an official visit to Rutgers," Bronson said. "Nebraska came down last week and so did South Carolina. Virginia Tech and Nebraska both said they were coming back again this week."
It wasn't the coach you might expect meeting with Bronson, however, as the Huskers sent in their offensive guru to talk college possibilities with the 6-foot-3, 247-pound defensive end.
"It was the offensive coordinator who came by. It was Coach (Tim) Beck," Bronson said. "He told me that I'm high on their list and they like my athleticism and how big I am with it. You know, just some nice things."
Beck also wasn't shy to talk about one of their more recent famous athletes that excelled under the Husker staff in Lincoln and that certainly caught Bronson's ear.
"Nebraska always been on the radar, you know. Coach Beck told me a lot about it," Bronson said. "He thinks I fit their system. We all know Ndamukong Suh went there. He told me a lot of stuff like that. "
They also discussed what his exact role would be if he does end up in Lincoln.
"They were talking to me about Eric Martin," Bronson said. "They look at me like they saw him. They think I can fit right into their system like he did."
Defensive line coach Rick Kaczenski visited Bronson this week following Beck's trip out to see him last week. Bronson will take his official visit to NU on Jan. 31.
