Four-star junior has lofty goals
Keenan Walker desires most hasn't arrived yet. The good news for the four-star tackle is that it's early. He has plenty of time to continue chasing it.He has five of them already in tow and is miles ahead of most players in his 2015 class on that front, but the scholarship offer
And, simply put, he intends to do so. The Scottsdale (Ariz.) Chaparral junior doesn't discourage easily.
"The school that I am really reaching for, Ohio State, hasn't offered me," Walker said. "I went to Ohio for an All-America camp, but I wasn't able to get ahold of the Ohio State coach, so I'm not sure what's going to happen there, but it's the one I really want."
If the Buckeyes never make things official, Walker will have no problem working with what he has. So far, Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, UCLA and Washington have offered. It's not as though he'll be lacking options when it comes time to choose a school. He doesn't have any "leaders" as thing stand now, but he does have budding relationships.
"I've always had a good relationship with Arizona," Walker said. "Arizona and UCLA. With UCLA, I have a really good relationship with their staff, too. Those are the schools I'm closest with."
Michigan State, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, Michigan, Utah and others have also been in frequent contact. None of that group has offered, but that could change at any moment. There's no shortage of interest in the junior tackle's services. That much is clear.
"Ever since Sept. 1, I've gotten so many messages on Facebook and so many friend requests from coaches," Walker said. "It's crazy."
Walker says he intends to visit Arizona State for the Sun Devils' game against Arizona on Nov. 30 but has no other travel plans at the moment. The short trip will be an attempt to get to know the lay of the land in Tempe a little better.
"I don't really have any favorites between the two in-state schools, but I just know the UofA staff better than I know the coaches at ASU right now," Walker said.
Walker is also making an effort with Oregon, which remains involved in his recruitment despite the lack of a scholarship offer.
"I've been trying to talk to Oregon a lot more, but they're just kind of iffy about offering me," he said. "I don't know what's going on with them, but they are still recruiting me and all that."
Walker is a member of the Rivals250 Watch List for the class of 2015.
