Doyle makes eight

Eight commitments are now in for Western Michigan's class of 2014, the newest being 6-foot-6, 310 pound offensive tackle Curtis Doyle.

Another local commitment hailing from Alma, WMU was able to land Doyle despite Central Michigan, who is in his backyard, extending an early offer. He is the third offensive line commitment thus far, with all three coming from the state of Michigan and all at least 6-foot-5.

Doyle is the biggest-bodied thus far, and all three have their share of interest as well. Among Doyle's most heard-from suitors were Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska and Purdue.

Rivals.com analyst Josh Helmholdt saw Doyle at the Adidas Showcase Combine and filed a report.

"One of the more encouraging developments from Saturday's showcase was the development of several young linemen whom we had not seen since the off-season," Helmholdt noted. "Tops among them was Alma, Mich., junior offensive tackle Curtis Doyle. We last saw Doyle in May at the Michigan Elite Camp and he showed promise, but the 6-foot-6, 310-pounder has stepped up his game since. His footwork was much improved, and he dominated every defensive lineman he faced in one-on-ones."
