Nottingham to transfer
Brett Nottingham will transfer from Stanford, a school spokesperson confirmed today.Redshirt sophomore quarterback
The particulars of Nottingham's decision are still unknown, but the spokesperson confirmed Nottingham made his final choice after the Pac-12 title game.
Many fans thought that Nottingham would be Andrew Luck's successor after the No. 1 draft pick left for the NFL. But Josh Nunes won the starting quarterback job out of fall camp, and redshirt freshman Kevin Hogan took over the Stanford offense midway through the season when Nunes struggled. Nottingham didn't receive a meaningful snap all season.
The Monte Vista High grad will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. It's not clear where Nottingham will end up, but an Ivy League school would be a logical destination.
As a recruit, Nottingham was given a four-star ranking and was deemed the nation's No. 4 pro-style quarterback. Nottingham was also ranked 122nd of all players in the class of 2010, regardless of position. He initially made a verbal commitment to UCLA before switching to Stanford late in the recruiting process.
Nottingham concludes his Stanford career with 100 passing yards, 1 touchdown, and a 62.5 percent completion percentage (on 10/16 passing). He played sparingly in both 2011 and 2012.
