FSU Rivals100 commit sets UF official visit

With 19 public commitments to date, Florida has very few remaining slots available in the Class of 2013. With so little room left, the Gators are in an enviable position of being able to cherry pick among the targets remaining on the board.

This past Saturday the Gators hosted one of the top lineman in the nation for their 14-6 win over LSU when Madison (Fla.) Madison County four-star offensive guard Ira Denson made the trip down to Gainesville.

Though he is committed to Florida's arch rival Florida State, Denson said he enjoyed his time at the game.

"It was good," stated Denson. "It was a great atmosphere at the game. The offense looked good. They passed it a lot in the beginning and then at the end they ran the ball a lot and wore down LSU. I didn't really know what to expect because I haven't really watched the way they (the Gators) play, so I really didn't have an idea what to look for, but they did good."

Since competing against each other at camps over the summer, the Rivals100 member has gotten close with Florida defensive line commit Caleb Brantley. Denson said that Brantley tries to sell him on the Orange and Blue.

"He's trying to get me there at Florida. Me Caleb and Nick Washington talk about how we play for our high schools and teams and stuff like that. At first I talked to Caleb about Florida State but he said they are too deep at the defense line and they have D lineman forever, so he wants to go somewhere he's going to play."

The Florida State commit stated that he is still very much solid to Florida State. One factor is that the Gators have yet to offer the 6-foot-4, 317-pound guard.

However, he said there have been talks about it.

"I don't know if they're going to do it yet, I have to call [offensive line] Coach [Tim] Davis today [Sunday]," explained Denson. "I talked to Coach Davis last night and he told me to give him a call. Nothing has changed with Florida State even though a lot of people have been calling me to talk about the loss [to NC State], but I am still solid with Florida State."

Denson said that he will be back again in Gainesville for another game, but the next time will be an official visit for the South Carolina game. He also noted his only other official visit planned is in Tallahassee when Florida State hosts Florida.
