Derby suspended for two games

Iowa backup quarterback A.J. Derby has been suspended for two games following his arrest over the weekend. Derby, who is a redshirt freshman this year, was arrested for public intoxication and fourth-degree criminal mischief on Saturday night after allegedly punching out a bus window.

Head coach Kirk Ferentz released the following statement today:

"A.J. Derby will serve a two game suspension as a result of his poor decisions this past weekend," said Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz.

Derby, who had been listed as Iowa's number two quarterback, has seen limited action in the team's first four games.

The Hawkeyes (3-1) will play at Penn State (4-1) Saturday in a game televised by ABC/ESPN at 2:36 p.m. (CDT).
