Moon makes a move

T.J. Moon is hoping a change in scenery will lead to a monster senior season.

The 5-foot-9, 216-pound running back transferred from Union Grove (Ga.) to Stephenson (Ga.) where the Jaguars run a wing-T run-oriented offense.

"I feel really good over here with what we are doing on offense," Moon said. "It feels real good to be over here. We actually run a wing-T offense and split carries three ways. Right now it's me, Mike Davis and another running back Pernell Whitehead. There is also another junior running back named Brandon Roberson and we all go back and forth trying to keep fresh legs out there on the field. Everybody has to know every single position in the backfield because we don't really have a set fullback because of how high octane this offense is."

Moon's first test at Stephenson comes tonight hosting Parkview.

"From what I hear they are not very deep because they have about seven or eight players who go both ways," Moon said. "But they play hard all game whether they are down 50-0 or up 50-0. They are not real big but they are really physical and are going to come to play."

Last season at Union Grove, Moon rushed for over 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Moon currently has scholarship offers to Boston College, Florida Atlantic, Memphis and South Alabama and two of those schools have started to separate themselves.

"Right now Florida Atlantic and South Alabama are definitely at the top," Moon said.

Another school keeping a watchful eye on Moon's progress is Mississippi State. Moon has previously visited the Bulldogs campus and could be hearing from the coaches again once his senior campaign gets started.

"I actually haven't heard from them in a few weeks since probably the last part of July or early part of August," Moon said. "They were just saying they liked everything that I was doing but wanted to see some more film and wait a couple of games into the season to see how I do in this offense from the offense I was coming from last year when I wasn't able to show all of my abilities."

Moon has enjoyed the recruiting process but does not have a timeline on exactly when he will make his final decision.

"It's going really well and right now I'm just taking it day by day," Moon said. "Everybody is wondering when I'm going to settle down and make a decision. I'm just taking it day by day and hearing from all of these coaches and schools. I need to see who wants me to be there and is interested in T.J. Moon as a person and not just as a football player."
