AAU coach says Huff has decommitted from SDSU

North Hollywood (Calif.) Campbell Hall forward Cole Huff was San Diego State's first 2012 commitment way back in November of last year.

But after SDSU made its Sweet 16 run, and after it gained transfers from forwards Dwayne Polee and J.J. O'Brien and a commitment from three-star forward Matt Shrigley, things changed drastically since Huff's commitment day.

So much so, Huff has decided to decommit from the Aztecs, his AAU coach Clint Parks said.

"The interest wasn't the same," said Parks, who coaches Huff at Team Eleate. "It wasn't the same mutually as when he first committed. Things changed."

Huff, a 6-foot-6, 180-pound small forward, tore his meniscus shortly after making his commitment to SDSU. Then, Aztec assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Justin Hutson left to take the assistant coaching job at UNLV. Finally, the Aztecs tentatively added O'Brien, Polee and Shrigley, all players who play the same position as Huff, to the 2012 class.

It all ultimately equaled a Huff decommitment this week, Parks said. The coach reiterated, however, the Aztecs did not revoke Huff's scholarship.

"It was mutual," Parks said.

Parks coached former Aztec forward Kawhi Leonard in the past at Team Eleate and currently has Division I prospects Demarquise Johnson and Aaron Holiday, Jrue Holiday's brother, in his program right now. He said his relationship with how his players deal with SDSU could change significantly as a result of Huff's situation with the Aztecs.
